2005 WMAA US Training Camp & 40th Birthday Bash!June 3 - 5, 2005 Buffalo NY.
Matt Dorsey · Guro Rick Manglinong · Datu Tim Hartman · Julie Kedzie · Bob Hubbard The World Modern Arnis Alliance recently held its 2005 Summer Camp in Buffalo, New York. Almost forty WMAA members from as far away as Indiana attended the event. This year’s featured instructors were Datu Tim Hartman, Punong - Guro Rick Manglinong, and Julie Kedzie. Web designer Bob Hubbard and Sensei Matt Dorsey made presentations to school and club instructors on marketing and school management. The event unofficially kicked off on the evening of June 2nd with Datu Hartman teaching an open-mat session to early arriving attendees. Those who participated learned elements of the new WMAA curriculum and test standards. On Friday Datu Hartman began the camp by teaching Modern Arnis basics and again reviewing curriculum requirements. Following his class he introduced professional MMA fighter Julie Kedzie, who introduced the group to the basics of kickboxing. Punong - Guro Rick Manglinong followed up with a review of the doble baston techniques he’d taught at previous camps, and added empty hand applications taken from his double stick drills. Bob Hubbard, the creator of MartialTalk.com, ended the evening with a seminar for instructors on web site development and advertising. On Saturday Kedzie introduced everyone to basic ground fighting skills. Punong Guro Manglinong taught self defense applications with a walking cane, and Datu Hartman covered advanced “Tapi-Tapi” drills. That evening Matt Dorsey gave a presentation on school management methods for the professional. During Saturday evening’s traditional WMAA banquet Datu Hartman publicly acknowledged and thanked the instructors and presented each with a watch embossed with the WMAA logo. Following the meal and the awarding of door prizes, the guests ended the evening by celebrating Hartman’s 40th birthday. The camp wrapped up its training schedule on Sunday with Punong Guro Manglinong reviewing his material and adding in some knife training. Datu Hartman then presented the basics of his EDT (Edged Weapons Defensive Tactics) program. The camp was, as always, a great success. Those in attendance developed their martial skills and formed new bonds of friendship. We look forward to next year’s gathering! ====== >>Photo Gallery Coming Soon<< Video Clips Available in the Media Gallery
