He has trained under the following Instructors: Sensei Tony Prieschel Jr. (Kenpo Karate), Sifu Christopher Zeth (Kempo Karate& SDS/JKDA), Sifu Dion Riccardo (Jeet Kune Do Concepts), Datu Tim Hartman (Modern Arnis), Guru Chad Dulin (Sayoc Kali/Modern Arnis), Shihan David James (Vee-Arnis Jujitsu), Guru Billy Bryant (Cadena De Mano) and other well respected Instructors. Mr. Bailie is the area contact person for the World Modern Arnis Alliance.

Mr. Bailie teaches a Self Defense program that is a blend of material drawn from his experience both in the Martial Arts and L.E.O. Defensive Tactics. Being a proponent of the K.I.S.S. Concept (Keep It Simple/ Straightforward), techniques covered in the program are kept to basic strike combinations and defensive postures that “flow” well together. He cites validated research that “Fine Motor Skills” tend to break down in non-static environments, “Gross Motor Skills” are relied upon to defend one self in most violent confrontations. He confers with the PPCT approach of teaching techniques. Techniques are designed around the “3 minute rule”, which means, that if individual cannot learn the basic mechanics of a technique in 3 minutes or less, in all likely hood, they will not be able to utilize the techniques under stress.

The core of the program is centered on Active Countermeasures (empty hand strikes, head butts, knees and elbow strikes).
Utilized kicks include the following: the Angle Kick (Thai Kick), Groin Kick, Shin Kick, Front Thrust Kick & Side Kick. All kicking is kept below the waist line generally. The use of edged weapons, impact weapons and firearms are addressed within the program, here again the K.I.S.S. Concept is employed. Ground Defense (Grappling) techniques are utilized too, keeping in mind the street is no place for competition type submission grappling. As can be seen, this program covers various ranges of self defense, noting that there are at least 7 depending on one’s perception. Motor Dysfunction, Mental Stunning and Balance Displacement are the end results sought in all strikes used in this self defense program.
