November 19-25, 2001 Denmark
November 19-20,
Holstebro
Datu Hartman arrived early Monday morning after an 8-hour flight. The base
of operations for the Denmark tour would be Holstebro. The WMAA administrative
director for Denmark, Claus Pederson, coordinated the Danish leg of the Scandinavian
tour. On Monday and Tuesday evening Datu Hartman taught at Mr. Pederson’s
school. The topics cover was based on the Mano Y Daga knife program. What made
the seminar more interesting was the fact that the bouncers from several pubs
and disco techs participated. In addition to running the program a lot of “what
if?” problems were addressed.
November 21, Copenhagen
On Wednesday Datu Hartman was on his way to Copenhagen. He scheduled to teach
and Copenhagen Police Karate Club. The seminar was open to the public.
Some of the styles represented there were Isshinryu Karate, Ving Tsun & Latosa
Eskrima to name a few. The participants were exposed to Datu Hartman’s
unique teaching style. Whether they worked out or not everyone have a good
time while the Datu demonstrated and telling jokes to make his point (no
pun intended).
November 22, Otterup
Thursday Datu Hartman arrived in Otterup. This seminar was for the Otterup
Kenpo School of Self Defense. Thomas & Jonny assisted Datu Hartman.
They had attended many of the seminars that Datu Hartman has taught in
Europe. Mano Y Daga phase1 was the topic of the day. In addition to teaching
two adult sessions that day The Datu also taught a special kid’s
class. Language was a problem but with the visual cues that were given
it didn’t take long for everyone to catch on.
November 24 & 25,
Aarhus
On the last two days in Denmark Datu Hartman went to the city on Aarhus to
teach an instructors seminar for the Danish Modern Arnis Association (Ernesto
Presas Style), hosted by Thorbean. The seminar started with Remy Presas basics
and worked progressions from there. This was the Datus second time there and
was very pleased to see that the group was working of the drills that were
taught on the last visit. At the end on the seminar Guro Toby was made the
WMAA Technical Director for Denmark. This is a great responsibility and Datu
Hartman feels confident that Guro Toby is up to the job. During this trip the
WMAA had seven new schools join the organization.
