Black Belt Immersion VII: The Rhythm of Combat

Some hear chaos.
Others hear timing.
The masters learn to hear opportunity.
On March 13th, continue the journey through the Black Belt Immersion Series as we enter one of the most iconic and dynamic training methods in Filipino Martial Arts — Sumbrada.
Often called the Six-Count Drill, Sumbrada is far more than a memorized pattern. It is timing, sensitivity, flow, reaction, pressure, and precision woven together into one living system of combat.
This seventh installment will take students far beyond the surface.
Under the direct instruction of Datu Tim Hartman, Tribal Chief of Modern Arnis and head of the World Modern Arnis Alliance, practitioners will explore not only the traditional six-count version of Sumbrada, but also the deeper and more advanced ten-count progression through:
- Single Stick
- Double Stick
- Espada Y Daga
- Staff
- Advanced transitional flow drills
The seminar will also dive into the striking styles of:
- Abaniko
- Banda y Banda
- Rompida
- Figure 8 striking patterns
And students will continue their progression through Forms 5 & 6, sharpening movement, coordination, structure, and combat application.
This is where rhythm becomes reaction.
Where flow becomes instinct.
And where hesitation disappears between movements.
Held at Horizon Martial Arts — headquarters of the World Modern Arnis Alliance — located at 280 Center Road in the Wimbledon Plaza, West Seneca, New York, this seminar is another critical step toward preparation for the historic 70th Anniversary Camp and Black Belt Testing.
And remember, every dollar spent on your seminar registration applies directly toward your testing fees.
Whether you attend in person or online, every registered participant will receive a digital copy of the seminar, ensuring you never miss the material — even if life gets in the way.
Every drill teaches timing.
Every repetition builds instinct.
Every seminar moves you closer to the next level.
Train with rhythm.
Move with purpose.
And level up before the opportunity passes you by.
